January 08, 2015MASON CITY -- Dorothy May Brown, 90, of Mason City, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, with visitation one hour prior to services, at First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave., Mason City. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Memorials preferred to Dorothy Brown Memorial Fund in care of the family.
Dorothy was born Feb. 10, 1924, in Clear Lake to Harry and Stella (Forshee) Bisgrove. She attended various country schools before graduating from Mason City High School. She was married to Robert Brown on June 1, 1946. She worked in the office for the Northwestern Cement Plant, Nichols and Wire, and later for Key Wholesale until her retirement.
Dorothy enjoyed her family, playing cards, dancing with Robert, golf, traveling, volunteering at the VFW, and volunteering where she could at the First United Methodist Church. Dorothy was a member of the Social Hour Club for many years.
Dorothy would help anyone. She often offered food, or a ride, or any assistance she could to those in need.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert in 2008, and a sister, Kaye Curran.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Janan (Mike) Schreiner, Deephaven, Minnesota, and Mark Brown, Mason City; grandchildren, Joshua (Randi) Schreiner, Andreea Schreiner; Jake, Clint, Avery, Tony, and Scottie Brown; she was surrounded by her friends and especially those at The Willows.
