PLEASANT HILL -- Thelma Boot, age 98, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Mitchellville Care Center.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City, Iowa.

Thelma was born December 6, 1912 in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Pearl and Blanche (Lewis) Santen. She graduated from Newton High School in 1931 and was united in marriage to Rollin Boot in 1933. The couple owned and operated Boot's Meat Market, which later became Hutchinson's Meat Market. Thelma lived in Mason City for 50 years prior to moving to Pleasant Hill in 1996, and she became a member of Simpson United Methodist Church. Thelma was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star and White Shrine.

Survivors include her niece, Nancy (James) Shepherd; nephew, David (Sheryl) Bewyer; seven great-nieces and nephews and two great-great-nieces. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rollin; and sister, Josephine Bewyer.

Memorial contribution may be directed to the Mason City Order of Eastern Star or Iowa Hospice.
