MASON CITY -- Ann Boonstra, 80, of Mason City died Friday (March 27, 2009) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 30, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 N. Delaware Ave., with the Rev. Mark Lavrenz officiating. Inurnment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

Memorials may be directed to the Ann Boonstra memorial fund in care of the family or Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Ann was born July 16, 1928, in Mason City, the daughter of Peter and Omie (Nolda) Green. She attended school in Hayfield before coming to Mason City schools; later in life she received her G.E.D. She was married to Sidney (Harry) Boonstra in January 1947. She worked at Armour's packing plant for several years and also helped her husband in the bar business. They owned and operated the White House Bar and also the Stoned Toad Bar in Mason City.

She enjoyed reading, crocheting and also reading and studying the Bible. Most of all she enjoyed taking care of her family and also her home. She loved the time she spent with her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Boonstra of Mason City; grandchild, Max Boonstra of Clear Lake; nephews, Gerald Meier, Allen Green, Michael Warner, Dennis Green, Jerry Davis and Jon Boonstra; nieces, Joann Sundermann and Susan Boonstra.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harry in 1986; son, Thomas in 1999; grandson, Neil Boonstra in 2001; sisters, Margaret Brown, Elizabeth (Meier) Groh, Katie Warner, Mollie Davis; and brothers, George and Peter Green.
