MASON CITY — Anna Bomgaars, 71, of Mason City died Wednesday (May 31, 2006) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, at the First Presbyterian Church, 201 Willowbrook Drive, Mason City, with the Rev. Wendy Norris officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 5, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City, and continue one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be given to Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank or Hospice of North Iowa.

MASON CITY — Anna Bomgaars, 71, of 1204 S. Vermont, Mason City, died Wednesday (May 31, 2006) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit

Anna was born Nov. 26, 1934, in Matlock, Iowa, the daughter of John and Allie (Langstraat) Dekkenga. She graduated from Sheldon High School.

Anna married Marvin D. Bomgaars on June 7, 1957, in Matlock. That same year, they moved to Mason City. She worked for the First National Bank for a short time. Anna volunteered thousands of hours through the years to the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank. She also volunteered as a teacher’s aide at Roosevelt Elementary School, in the Mercy Hospital Pediatrics Unit, and as a Cub Scout den mother. Anna was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, church circle, and sang in the church choir.

Anna is survived by her husband, Marvin, of Mason City; sons, Craig Bomgaars of Chicago, Ill., and Clark Bomgaars and wife, Monica, of Helena, Mont.; grandsons, Arie and Benjamin; brothers and sisters, Cornelius Dekkenga and wife, Evelyn, of Sheldon, Willis Dekkenga of Schofield, Wis., Louis Dekkenga and wife, Freda, of Ocheyedan, Lucy Bosma of Sibley, Martin Dekkenga and wife, Leona, of Sioux Center, and John Dekkenga and wife, Shirley, of Burnsville, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Herman Dekkenga; and sister, Angelina Baker.
