Mason City, Iowa -- Funeral services for Gladys W. "Bunkie" Bombella, 70, formerly of Mitchell County, Iowa, and also formerly of Mason City, and most recently of 2308 E. 15th Street in Sedalia, Mo., were held Friday, August 25, 2006, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, Mason City, with Rev. Wendy K. Abrahamson, St. John's Episcopal Church, officiating.

Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Gladys passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2006, at her home surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Gladys Wanetta Bombella was born on January 30, 1936, at Elma, Iowa; daughter of Robert and Unis Maude (Power) Graham. Gladys resided in Mitchell County most of her youth and later moved to Mason City. She worked in Mason City for EF Johnson and Rockwell International, retiring as a production supervisor. During her time at Rockwell International, Gladys went back to school and obtained her GED from NIACC.

Gladys was united in marriage to Phillip Bombella on June 26, 1968, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua.

Gladys was a member of the Mason City VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed listening to music, chatting with friends online, and playing Mahjong and pogo.com. To her family she was strong, loving and a wonderful caregiver and caretaker. She loved collecting angel statues and figurines, and spending time tending to her many rose bushes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, half brother, and cousin, Marian Rehak.

Gladys will be greatly missed by her husband, Phillip Bombella, Sedalia, Mo.; five sons, Stuart Bombella, Sedalia, Mo.; Steven (Ann) Bombella, Mason City; Charles (Berta) Graves, Sedalia, Mo.; Michael (Suzanne) Graves, Upton, Calif.; and Tony (Maria) Bombella, Tampa, Fla.; three daughters, Candace (Mike) Prather, Mason City; Tara (Mike) Harry, Riverside, Calif.; and Lisa (Joel) Hansen, Davenport; 19 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two sisters, Judith Wagner, Ames; and Kay Donner, Ames; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
