Mason City- Darwin “Skip Alvar Bohl 69, of 930 North Delaware, died Friday June 12, 2009, at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday June 15, 2009, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel 126 3rd Street N.E. Mason City, with Reverend Kenneth Gehling officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Darwin A. Bohl memorial fund.

Darwin Alvar Bohl was born September 30, 1939, in Iowa City the son of Vern and Agnes (Olson) Bohl. He attended Mason City Schools.

Darwin was united in marriage to Sandra Boyle on September 7, 1963, at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Mason City; to this union four children were born. Skip began his career with Payne Plumbing in Mason City; he worked for them for 37 years and retired in 2000.

Skip’s hobbies included golfing, fishing, bowling, walking with his brother, spending time with his grandchildren, going for morning coffee with his friends, bargain hunting, playing Solitaire and other card games with his family.

Skip was a member of the Iowa National Guard for six years, Rockwell Country Club and a member of the Local 33 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union for over 40 years.

Skip is survived by his wife Sandra Bohl, Mason City; children Christine Nielson, Mason City, Joe (Bernadette) Bohl, Mason City, James “JV” (Teri) Bohl, Roland, Philip Bohl and special friend Miranda Anderson, Mason City; grandchildren Nathan, Dylan, Jackie, Sara, Madison, Chole, Isabella and Brody; one great granddaughter Clarie; siblings Marvin (Kathy) Bohl, Mason City, Patty Paulson, Rogers, AR, Greg Bohl, St. Paul, MN, along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Skip is preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Shirley, brothers Elmer “Ike” Bohl and Elvin “Snook” (Betty) Bohl, and brother in law Tom Paulson.
