MASON CITY -- Marilyn H. Boender, 68, of 630 Briarstone Drive, died Friday (Jan. 24, 2003) at the Good Shepherd Health Center after a long struggle with amyloidosis.

Funeral services will celebrate her life at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rolling Acres Christian Reformed Church, 340 20th St. S.W., with Rev. Jack Vanden Heuvel officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of North Iowa or Operation Smile, 6435 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk, Virginia 23509-1600.

Marilyn was born June 29, 1934, in Delta, Iowa, the daughter of Guy and Cornelia (Valster) Kelderman and was married to Edward Boender April 25, 1952, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

After some time in the U.S. Air Force, they moved to Mason City in 1960 when Ed was employed at Pioneer Federal Savings and Loan and Marilyn worked as a telephone operator. They were blessed with four children and she was a domestic engineer for many years, always supportive in all their activities and very involved in the founding and work of the Christian Reformed Church.

Music was very special in her life, especially when used to praise God. She was active in Women's Club, PEO chapter KW and Occident Club. She and Ed enjoyed some travels together and particularly excursions in their motor home. I

n recent years, she was employed at Comprehensive Systems, always the caregiver. She will always be remembered for her enduring faith and strong but tender spirit.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ed; brother, Gerald Kelderman and wife, Kathryn, of Lafayette, Colo.; children; Pat Guetzko and husband, Dave, of Mason City and their children, Lisa, Matthew and Mark, Mike Boender and wife, Donna, of Lakewood, Colo., and their children, Nicholas and Zachary, John Boender of Golden, Colo., Carol Boender, of Washington, D.C.; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and very special niece, Joan Fynaardt of Oskaloosa.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mildred, and her parents.
