Obituary ~ Eleanor M. "Lennie" (Servantez) Baltierra

MASON CITY — Eleanor M. (Servantez) Baltierra, 77, of Mason City, died Friday, August 26, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at Epiphany Parish, Holy Family Church, 714 N. Adams. Officiating will be the Rev. Neil Manternach. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 2nd St. SE, Mason City. A Spanish rosary will be held at 7 p.m. with a Scripture service to follow, to be led by Deacon Matt Berry.

Eleanor “Lennie” was born in Mason City, the daughter of Fransisco and Catalina Servantez. She attended school in Mason City. For two years she operated the steam presses at Marshall and Swift.

She was united in marriage to Jesus “Jay” Baltierra on April 27, 1957, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. To this union was born five children. For the greater majority of her life she was a homemaker caring for her children, grandchildren and some of the great-grandchildren. This did not stop her and her husband from enjoying many trips with the kids to Mexico, Canada, California and especially San Antonio for the Mexican festivals in September.

She was very loyal to her family and would really enjoy sharing dinners and shopping with them. One of the special times of the year was the Guadalupe Mass at Holy Family where she was a longtime member. She also enjoyed the Mexican music and dances with the Hispanic club. She always looked forward to the holidays to sharing the special foods she became known for and always the annual preparation of the tamales.

Four of her children survive Eleanor, and include Frank and Terri Baltierra Sr., Ramona and Chad Oleson, Anna and Doug Freudenberg, and Marty and Lisa Baltierra, all of Mason City; 16 grandchildren, Frank Jr. (Morgan) Baltierra, Tara Redfern (Brad Bissig), Dustin Baltierra (Brittnay Ruehlow), Kaylee Baltierra (Nate Whitehurst), Kanysha Baltierra (Ruben Ramirez), Alex (Heather) Huegli, Blane Sjostrad (Jenna Krumm) and Selena Sjostrand, Jeremiah, Austin, Macie, and Jasmine Freudenberg, Jay and Kathryn Baltierra; 17 great-grandchildren: Tanna, Hunter, and Madden Baltierra, Zane Redfern, Brekken and Kobe Bissig, Lila Gardner and Easton Baltierra, Camber Whitehurst, Eric, Gionni, Noel, and Nayeli Rameriz, Parker and Zerek Huegli, Kaiden Dierks and Cale Despenas; brothers Mike and Virginia Servantez, Tony and Mary Servantez all of Mason City; a special brother-in-law Charles Garza; many nieces and nephews and other in-laws.

Her husband; parents; one daughter in infancy Geradine; sisters Lupe Garza, Babe Servantez, Hazel Rubio, and Eleanor Servantez in infancy; and two brothers Jule and Frank Servantez; preceded Eleanor in death.
