MASON CITY -- Fannie Abel, 98, of 548 15th St. S.E., Mason City, died Wednesday (Aug. 30, 1995) at the I.O.O.F. Home, Mason City.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave.

VENTURA -- Fannie Abel, 98, died Wednesday (Aug. 30, 1995) at the I.O.O.F. Home, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. David Anderson of St. James Lutheran Church, Mason City, and the Rev. David Gobeli of Ventura United Methodist Church, Ventura, officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, Garner.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, and will continue from noon on Saturday until time of the service.

The family suggests memorials to the Fannie Abel Memorial Fund.

Fannie Abel was born May 7, 1897, in Ventura, a daughter of Amos Hyde and Betsy Hyde (nee) Thronson. Fannie attended country school near Ventura. She married Arthur Abel on Feb. 8, 1922, in Ventura. They farmed for many years in the Ventura and Garner areas.

She was a member of the Ventura United Methodist Church, Dorcas Ladie's Circle, Union Dozen Club, Thought & Thimble Club, Ventura Women's Club and was an active member of the Senior Citizen's Center in Ventura.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Abel and his wife, Dixie, of Overland Park, Kan.; one daughter, Lorraine Reynolds of Mason City; eight grandchildren, Steven Abel, Edward Abel, Jeanne FitzGerald, Joan Moore, Allan Reynolds, Ann Hussong, Kay Legler and Dawn Moore; 16 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
