Lupe Jimenez was born July 20, 1910, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of John and Leandra (Galvan) Jimenez. Lupe was one of 13 children. The family moved to Iowa where she attended the local schools. As a young adult she worked at Deckers Meat Packing Plant. She was united in marriage to Leo Espinosa in 1935; to this union four children were born. She had a unique gift of making her children feel like they were the only child. Lupe spent many years working as a licensed practical nurse at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital and later did home care nursing for the sick. She was able to work outside the home and keep up her devotion to her two families that she raised; she was able to do this with her guidance from her Catholic faith. Her family all felt safe knowing they were in her prayers, she was respectfully their "Mother Teresa" and matriarch of the family; they all loved being in her presence. Lupe had a sincere, genuine smile and touch. She had a wonderful child like sense of humor, an adventurous spirit and was always on "the go". Lupe was definitely a lady of passion. She had a loyal dedication to the Democratic Party and volunteered during the elections. She loved all card games, bingo, and the slot machines. Lupe was sharp with numbers and she would be the score keeper when the family gathered around her kitchen table to play games. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening; Lupe's greatest love was spending time with family and friends. The family will cherish all the precious memories close to their hearts. Lupe took great pride in living independently in her home and being able to care for herself in her 90's. Her family and friends will always remember her this way.

Lupe was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, past member of the CDA, active member of the Democratic Party.

Lupe is survived by her daughters, Leilani (Bill) Olson, of Gettysburg, PA, Toni Benson and (Bob Fore), of Upland, CA, Grandchildren, Melissa Jacobsen and family, Grant and Keith Olson, Heidi and Molly Benson, Kimberly Ginapp, Michael Espinosa, Laurie Morales, Patricia Bickley, Steven Espinosa, Robin Espinosa, Teri Zaykoski and all of their families, Great Grandmother of 16, Great-Great Grandmother of 2, sisters, Mary Inoscencio, of Waskegeon, Mi, Josephine Melendez, of West Des Moines, and Helen Gonzales, of Chicago, Ill, along with many nieces nephews, cousins, and friends.
