Roy Allen Ellsworth, 81, of Mason City, Iowa died Wed. Nov. 8, 2006 at his home.

Celebration of Life will be Monday Nov. 27, 2006 11:00a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 N. Delaware, Mason City, Iowa with Rev. Mark Lavrenz officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City. Military honors will be by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00-7:00p.m. at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, Mason City, Iowa. Family suggests memorials to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Iowa.

Roy was born in Waterloo, Iowa the son of Ira and Laura (Jackson) Ellsworth. He graduated from West High School in Waterloo, Iowa weeks before he joined the U.S. Navy as a Seabee where he served for three years in the Pacific Theatre during WWII.

He married Birdie Lierman on June 8, 1947 in Clover, Idaho. They made their home in Waterloo for thirteen years where he worked for Winterbottom Supply. In 1961 he moved to Mason City were he was a partner in Mid-States Supply before starting his own business Home Service Company.

Roy enjoyed fishing, golfing, watching the Twins and especially spending time with his family.

He is a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mason City V.F.W. and Am Vets.

He is survived by his wife Birdie, Mason City, Iowa; two daughters Debbie (Lee) Hamernick, Columbus, Ohio and Sue Ellen (Ron) Riese, St. Paul, Minnesota; a son Rex Alan Ellsworth, Miami, Florida; four grandsons Alex (Jennifer) Hamernick, Brian (Lisa) Hamernick, Chris Odegaard and his companion Bobbie Jo and Daniel Hamernick and his companion Nikki; seven great-grandchildren, two step grand-daughters and two sisters Alice (Bud)Tillman, Bozeman, Montana and Helen Bates, Payson, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
