Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, IowaPhyllis Ann Ellison, age 74, loving mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully August 7, 2013 in Omaha. Phyllis was the youngest of 4 children born in Tuscola, IL.
She grew up in Mason City, IA, and graduated in 1961 from Drake University in Education. She retired from U.S. West in 1998 after a 20 year career as a telephone operator. She had many interests such as sewing, knitting, reading, and playing the piano.
She enjoyed her time volunteering at nursing homes and hospices.
Preceded in death by her youngest son Tim Welty; sister Marilyn Sherwood; and parents, Elmer and Marie Ellison.
She is survived by sister Constance Krueger, Mason City; brother Elmer "Toby" Ellison, Atlanta, GA; son, Richard Paul Welty (Andrea Welty), Grayson, GA; daughters, Annie Welty-Engle (Lloyd Engle), and Mary Welty Clarke (David Clarke), both of Omaha; 6 grandchildren, Alex Clarke, Ryan Clarke, Joey Clarke, Erica Welty, Jeremy Silver, and Piper Silver; and a host of friends and relatives.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service Monday, August 12, at 11am, with a Viewing prior to Service from 10-11am, all at the Funeral Home. Private Family Interment in Elmwood Cemetery, Mason City, IA.
