MASON CITY — Ruth Ellis, 92, of 1304 N. Monroe in Mason City, passed away Thursday (April 23, 2009) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 27, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E. in Mason City. Pastor Jeff Dahlin of Praise Community Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Mason City.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, at the funeral home and again one hour prior to the service. For those wishing to share their thoughts, condolences, and stories, you may do so on the funeral home Web site at http://www.FullertonFH.com">www.FullertonFH.com.

Ruth Margaret (Osgood) Ellis was born in Bode on April 17, 1917, the daughter of Levi and Josephine (Fosen) Osgood. She was united in marriage to Herman Robert Ellis in 1938 in Northwood. Herman passed away in 1987. Ruth had lived most of her life in Mason City.

Ruth attended Praise Community Church in Mason City while her health allowed. She enjoyed reading and listening to music in her spare time. While she was still able, she also loved to go for walks. Her favorite activity was crocheting. Ruth was a very soft-spoken person and very patient and tolerant. She also had a kind and gentle soul.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Richard (Bonnie) Ellis and Donna Weitzel, all of Mason City, and David (Jenny) Ellis of Waterloo; brother, Robert Dean Osgood; sister, June Lee; 11 grandchildren, many great- and great-great-grandchildren; and a special great-grandson, Mike Sandmeyer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman; son-in-law, David Weitzel; sisters, Norma Anderson and Liala Scalf; and brothers, LeRoy, Russell, Wayne, Garth, Virgil and Elwood Osgood.
