Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, IowaHarold A. Ellis, age 85, of Mason City, died Friday, February 12, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Per Harold's request, he will be cremated. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Elmwood - St. Joseph Cemetery, with Military Honors conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. Memorials may be directed to the Harold A. Ellis memorial fund in care of the family.
Harold was born December 24, 1924, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Giesick) Ellis. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1943. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Army from 1943 - 1945. Harold was united in marriage to Helen J. Stauffacher on June 21, 1947, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, Minnesota. Harold worked as a plumber for 30 years for Payne Plumbing and Black Plumbing. He was a member of St. James Lutheran and the V.F.W.
Harold is survived by his wife, Helen of Mason City; daughter, Laura (Jon) Scoles of Cedar Rapids, IA; son, Dan (Bonnie) Ellis of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Matthew Ward, Molly (Andrew) Olsasky, and Sarah Hartell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 6 sisters; 3 brothers.
Memorials may be directed to the Harold A. Ellis memorial fund in care of the family.
