Loanna "Nan" M. Fortune, 86, formerly of Mason City, died Tuesday (May 30, 1995) at the Hilltop Care Center, Spirit Lake.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., with the Rev. John R. Kremer officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third Street N.E., with a 7 p.m. Scriptural service.

Loanna M. Fortune was born April 25, 1909, in Mason City, the daughter of William W. Fletcher and Anna Christine (nee) Jorgensen Fletcher.

She married Joseph D. Fortune on Jan. 10, 1935, in Galena, Ill. He preceded her in death on July 30, 1984. Nan grew up in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School in 1927. She lived most of her life in Mason City, until the past three and one half years when she resided at the Hilltop Nursing Home in Spirit Lake. She enjoyed sewing and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. Nan was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan DeRock and her husband, Roger, of Spirit Lake, and Nancy Heyer and her husband, Richard, of Spirit Lake; two sons, Joseph Dennis Fortune and his wife, Patricia, of Elmhurst, Ill., and Dennis Michael Fortune and his wife, Venita, of Logmont, Colo.; two sisters, Ann Thul of Earling and Marie Orr of Mason City; 15 grandchildren, Joe DeRock of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Mindy DeRock and Chris DeRock, both of Beaverton, Ore.; Jeff Heyer of Salt Lake City, Utah; Julie Ricklefs of Spirit Lake; Shelley Buehner of Salt Lake City, Utah; David Heyer of Crystal Lake, Ill.; Linda Peschon of Spirit Lake; John Heyer of Sioux Falls; Kathryn Fortune of Elmhurst, Ill., and Vicki, Greg, Brad, Zarah and Samuel Fortune, all of Longmont, Colo.; 10 great-grandchildren, Kellie, Kyle and Kami Ricklefs, all of Spirit Lake; Matt Peterson of Estherville; Mia Cramer of Salt Lake City, Utah; Michael and Ryan Heyer of Crystal Lake, Ill.; Jodi and Mitchell Peschon of Spirit Lake, and Natalia Fortune of Longmont, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Robert Fletcher and Harold Fletcher.
