Donald E. Deardeuff, 68, of 5 Willowbrook Drive, Mason City, died Tuesday (Dec. 26, 1995) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Hanford Community Church with the Rev. Mark Culham and the Rev. Steve Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Major-Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice of North Iowa or the Hanford Community Church.

Don was born Aug. 30, 1927, in rural Cerro Gordo County, a son of John and Ada (Butcher) Deardeuff. He attended and graduated from Rockwell High School in 1945.

Don served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving an honorable discharge in 1947. He married Maxine Carpenter on Oct. 30, 1948, in Mason City.

Don farmed in the Rockwell area for over 50 years. In 1990, Don and Maxine moved to Mason City, where Don worked part-time for Younkers and United Oil Mart. Don was an active member of the Hanford Community Church, holding several leadership positions there. He was a past board member of the Rockwell Elevator, Midland Co-op and the Rockwell Phone Co. and was a member of the Rockwell Lions Club. Don enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine, of Mason City; one daughter, Donna Emhoff and her husband, James, of Sheffield; three grandchildren, Jesse, Nicholas and Jacob; three sisters, Arlene Van Sabben and Doris Janssen and her husband, Benjamin, all of Northwood, and Marjorie Evans and her husband, Lewaine, of Mason City; one brother, Leslie Deardeuff and his wife, Joan, of Rockwell; a special double cousin, Clarence Deardeuff and his wife, Mavis, of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Irma Throne; daughters, Jan Marie and Nancy Kay, and an infant daughter at birth.
