Ila Tanner, 89, of 1168 Maple Drive, Mason City, died Saturday (March 30, 1996) at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Nils "Chris" Hellevik officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Ila Tanner Memorial Fund.

Ila Tanner was born Nov. 20, 1906, in Dows, the daughter of Edward and Lucinda (Bauge) Erickson.

On Sept. 26, 1912 (?), Ila married Louis E. Tanner in Hampton.

Ila was employed by Mason City Tent and Awning in Mason City during World War II. She also worked for St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital, which is now North Iowa Mercy Health Center, for many years until her retirement.

Ila enjoyed her luncheons and visits with her co-workers and lady friends. Ila also enjoyed traveling and crocheting afghans for her family.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and ladies groups, Senior Advantage Organization of North Iowa Mercy Health Center, and American Legion Auxillary.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Brown and husband, John, of Topeka, Kan., and Marlene Schulte and husband, Donald, of Manly; two sons, Lawrence Tanner and his wife, Laura, of Clinton, and Rolland Tanner and his wife, Donna, of Lakeland, Colo.; one sister, Myrna Clark of Clear Lake; one brother, LaVerne Baxter and his wife, Helen, of Westchester, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 stepgreat-grand-children; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, in 1987; her parents; two sisters, LaVonne Anderson and Goldie Trudeau; three brothers, Marvin, Forrest, and Lloyd; one son, Robert; two grandsons, Terry and Danny; one son-in-law, Virgil Schulte; one sister-in-law, Clara Erickson; three brothers-in-law, Lloyd Anderson, Steve Clark and Pat Trudeau.
