Orville C. Paulson, 76, of 947 15th St. N.E., Mason City, died Thursday (Feb. 1, 1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

There will be no visitation. The body was cremated. Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. is in charge of arrangements.

Orville C. Paulson was born the son of George H. and Olga J. (Olson) Paulson in Worth County, Iowa.

Orville attended country schools in Worth County. Orville then enlisted in the United States Army and served during World War II from Oct. 1, 1940 to Oct. 25, 1945. He served in the Phillipines Islands and received a Presidential Unit Citation Badge.

After the war, Orville returned to Mason City where he worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as the head time keeper for 35 years and retired in 1980.

He married Evette E. Cooteau-Krueger on Dec. 31, 1971 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

He was a life time member of the V.F.W. He was a member of the National Association of the Sixth Infantry, the Railroad Veteran's Organization, Transportation Communications International Union, and the Transportation Car Department Union.

Survivors include his wife, Evette E. Paulson of Mason City; one sister, Margery Schmidthuber and her husband, Leo, of Lake Mills; two nieces, Jane Noah and her husband, Steve of West Des Moines, and Ann Spanjers and her husband, Matthew, of York, Neb.; one nephew, Michael Schmidthuber of Ronan, Mont.; three great nephews; and one great niece; and several cousins.
