April 02, 1996Gerald L. "Jerry" Paulsen, 52, of 3940 Nokomis Ave. S., Minneapolis, died Sunday (March 31, 1996) at Fairview Riverside Medical Center, Minneapolis.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E., Mason City, Iowa, with Father James Hayes officiating. Interment will be at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.
Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. today and a parish Scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City, Iowa.

Gerald was born on Aug. 12, 1943, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Arnold and Christena (Berry) Paulsen.
He attended school at St. Joseph High School.
Jerry served his country in the United States Navy.
He was a hot tar roofer for Midwest Roofing in Mason City, Iowa, and served other companies around the United States. He also had worked for Diamond Vogel Paints in Minneapolis.
He was disabled in 1992 and was forced to retire due to his illness.
Jerry was united in marriage to Pat Nedved on April 10, 1976, in Mason City, Iowa.
Jerry was a member of St. Helena's Catholic Church and the American Legion in Minneapolis. He also belonged to the Moose Lodge in Mason City, Iowa.
He enjoyed beating all challengers in Scrabble and was an avid fan of bingo and card playing. He enjoyed painting pictures and camping at the St. Croix River Valley.
Jerry is survived by his family members including his wife, Pat, in Minneapolis; his mother, Christena; four sons, Terry Schaer of Minneapolis; David and his wife, Lisa Schaer of Mason City, Iowa; Jeremy and Jason Paulsen, both of Minneapolis; two sisters, Geraldine and her husband, David Krueger of Mankato, Minn., and Christine Paulsen of Mason City, Iowa; three brothers, Richard and his wife, Alice Paulsen; James and his wife, Gloria Paulsen, and Patrick Paulsen; and one brother-in-law, Larry Bitker, all of Mason City, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Lila Paulsen of Mason City, Iowa, and Patty Paulsen, of Rogers, Ark.; and four grandchildren, Autumn, Joshua, Jared and Jordan Schaer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold; one sister, Dorothy Bitker; and two brothers, Donald and Thomas Paulsen.
