Alice A. Helm, 87, of 625 N. Jackson Ave., Mason City, died Friday (Feb. 9, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 119 S. Georgia Ave., with the Rev. Merlin Ackerson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., and one hour prior to service time Monday at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Alice A. Helm Memorial Fund.

Alice Helm was born Sept. 9, 1908, in Wabeno, Wis., the daughter of Ferdinand and Clara (Giese) Priebe. She graduated from Mason City High School and then married Harold Helm on July 13, 1927, at Rockford, Ill. She enjoyed cooking and, at one time, cooked at the auctioneering college north of Mason City. She also cooked at the Community Kitchen.

Alice was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Tuckabachee Circle, TAE Club, Eastern Star, Card Club and PTA. She enjoyed cooking and gardening.

Alice was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be missed by all.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Spina of Des Moines; Mary Spina and husband, Larry, of Des Moines, and Linda Daly and husband, Jay, of Cedar Rapids; four sons, Harold "Bud" Helm Jr. and wife, Sara, of Mason City; Robert Helm and wife, Margaret, of Phoenix, Ariz.; Larry Helm and wife, Jean, of Orange Park, Fla., and John Henry Helm of Mason City; one sister, Maxine Johnson of Mason City; 18 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
