Alfred G. Boehmer, 81, died Tuesday (April 2, 1996) at home.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams Ave., with the Rev. John Kremer officiating. Interment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

Fullerton Patterson-James Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., is in charge of arrangements.

Alfred Boehmer was born on July 15, 1914 at North Washington, Iowa, the son of Lawrence and Clara (Miller) Boehmer. He attended school there and then entered farming as his chosen vocation. He farmed most of his life near Alma and also drove milk truck for Simetz Trucking, hauling the milk into the Stacyville Creamery. He later worked for IBP and his love for farming continued after his retirement in 1973, working as a hird hand for the Hobbiebrunken farms.

Alfred met Lucille Toinbee at Black's Cafe in Waterloo and they were united in marriage on July 23, 1955 at Lourdes. They honeymooned in St. Louis and their love and friendship lasted until her death in 1987.

Alfred was a long time member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a former member of the Farmer's Coop in Alma. Alfred would rather be fishing or camping than being indoors. He and his wife enjoyed going to Texas, California, and Florida on camping trips.

Alfred is survived by three granddaughters, Judi Kirsch, Mrs. Don (Diana) Kellar, and Mrs. Greg (Carol) Sheppard, all of Mason City; two grandsons, Michael and his wife (Bev) Carolus of Madrid, and Steven Dunlap of Manly; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great- great-granddaughter; one sister, Viola Westendorf of Cedar Rapids; and one brother, Art Boehmer of Stacyville.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; one stepdaughter, Mary Lou Eddy in May of 1995; five sisters, Elizabeth (Lizzy), Martha, Helena, Kate, and Elnora; and three brothers, Andrew, Hank and Frank.
