Mable Anderson, 89, of 216 25th St. S.W., died Sunday morning (Feb. 4, 1996) at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Fullerton Patterson James Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., with the Rev. Kenneth Hatland officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.

Mable was born on June 1, 1906, in Mason City, the daughter of Willie V. and Clarinda C. (McClaren) Blake.

She attended school in Mason City, where she also lived most of her life.

She was united in marriage to John A. Anderson on Oct. 22, 1922, in Mason City. They lived in Vancouver for a short time while her husband worked in the ship yards.

For a time, she was a cook at the Mason City Country Club, then she worked for house keeping at St. Joseph Mercey Hospital for 11 years as a supervisor. Because Mable did not drive, she looked forward to her daughters picking her up for lunch and shopping trips. During her grandchildren's younger years, she also attended their school activities whenever possible.

When she was able, she spent a great amount of time working in her yard and garden and in later life, she was very active with the quilting group at the Senior Citizens Center.

She was a member of the Mason City Senior Citizens, Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and a past member of the church circle.

Mable is survived by four daughters, Lavonn Johnston and her husband, Kenneth; Doris Price and her husband, Harold; Marilyn Kittleson and her husband, Lavern, all of Mason City; and Karen Bernhardt and her husband, Gary, of Plymouth; her sister, Beth Dawson and her husband, John, of Mason City; and her brother, Richard Blake of New Sharon; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
