Dick Christensen, 86, of Rockwell, died Monday, March 28, 2016, at the Sheffield Care Center. Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 1, at Retz Funeral Home, Sheffield. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield at 10:00 a.m., Saturday. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday at Retz Funeral Home, Sheffield.

Dixon (Dick) Maynard Christensen was born May 12, 1929, on a farm near Thornton, a son of Mauris and Katerine (Jensen) Christensen. He was educated in country schools in the Sheffield area.

On July 20, 1947 Dick was united in marriage with Madonna Mae McClemons at the Baptist Church in Sheffield. To this union three sons were born, Michael, Gregory and Timothy.

Dick has farmed in the Sheffield area his entire life. He returned to his small acreage and continued helping neighbors and friends until just before his illness.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Donna who died in 1963, 2 brothers, Buford and Marvin and sister Beatrice Kramer.

Dick is survived by his sons: Michael Christenson, Reno, NV; Gregory (Samantha) Christensen, Savage, MN; Timothy (Jennifer) Christensen, Independence, KS; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren, and many friends, and extended family who will miss him very much.

Retz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
