January 12, 2013MASON CITY — LuAnn M. Hadacek, 75, of Mason City, and formerly of Rockwell, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center- North Iowa.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 302 Fifth St. S.E. with the Rev. Rodney M. Allers as celebrant. Committal services will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Rockwell.
Visitation will take place on Sunday evening, Jan. 13, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, from 3 until 5 p.m. with a Scriptural Wake service at 3 p.m.
Should friends desire, memorials may be left in LuAnn’s name in care of her family.
LuAnn Meriam Waage was born on December 15, 1937, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Nico and Mariam (Zieman) Waage. She attended and graduated from Belmond High School before furthering her education at Hamilton’s Business School.
On August 29, 1964, LuAnn was united in marriage to Francis Hadacek at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockwell; this union would be blessed with eight children.
For a brief time before her marriage, LuAnn worked at the Ford Garage and the Belmond Bakery, both in Belmond, before opting to stay at home and raise her family. In later years she worked at the Rockwell Nursing Home. In her free time she loved flower gardening, solving crossword puzzles, playing cards, especially Solitaire, and enjoying the company of her friends and family.
In more recent years LuAnn moved to Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City, where she made many new friendships. She loved participating in nearly every activity offered and particularly loved BINGO! Her family even joked with her that she was on the “Good Shepherd Council!”
Those grateful in sharing in her life are her husband, Francis Hadacek, Mason City; children, Patrick (Ardith) Hadacek, Sumner, Mark Hadacek (Sharla Hansen), Mason City, Bradley Hadacek, Mason City, Ronald (Teresa) Hadacek, Mason City, and Rebecca Hadacek (Matt Roath), Mason City; 22 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sister, Marlene (Don) Suntken, Belmond; sisters-in-law, Viv Waage and Norma Jean Thompson; as well as extended family members and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three children, Brenda Hadacek, Vicki Hadacek, and Sandra Hadacek; and three brothers, Lew Waage, Eugene Waage, and Myron (Fritz) Waage.
