MASON CITY — Francis Hadacek, 79, of Mason City, died Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 305 Elm St. East, Rockwell, with the Rev. Rodney Allers as Celebrant. Committal service will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Rockwell.

Visitation will take place on Monday evening, Jan. 25, 2016, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapels, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, from 5 until 7 p.m. with military honors conducted by the Mason City Veterans at 6:30, followed by the Knights of Columbus Rosary, and a Scriptural Wake service.

Should friends desire, memorials may be left in Francis’ name in care of his family.

Francis Hadacek was born on Feb. 26, 1936, in Duncan, Iowa, the son of Frank and Barbara (Busta) Hadacek. He attended and graduated from Garner High School in 1955. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was honorably discharged.

On Aug. 29, 1964, Francis was united in marriage to LuAnn Waage at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockwell; this union was blessed with eight children.

Francis enjoyed many years of dairy farming and raising hogs while raising his family on a farm near Rockwell. He was a very hard-working man, who would help anyone at any given time. Francis continued working outside after farming. He also enjoyed putting crossword puzzles together, and was very willing to taxi his family and friends around no matter what time of day or night. Francis’ greatest joy was being surrounded by family and friends.

Those grateful in sharing in his life are his children, Patrick (Ardith) Hadacek, Sumner, Mark Hadacek (Sharla Hansen), Mason City, Bradley Hadacek, Mason City, Ronald (Teresa) Hadacek, Mason City, and Rebecca Hadacek (Matt Roath), Mason City; 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Cecilia “Cindy” (James) O’Day, and Rita Dukeshier; as well as extended family members and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, LuAnn (Waage) Hadacek; three children, Brenda Hadacek, Vicki Hadacek, and Sandra Hadacek; sister, Marie Hildman; three brothers, Cletus Hadacek, Leo Hadacek and Donald Hadacek.
