ROCKWELL - Ella C. Cahill, 99, formerly of 221 First St. North, Rockwell, died Monday (Nov. 15, 1998) at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home, Rockwell.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 1998, at Saced Heart Catholic Church, Rockwell, with the Rev. Stephen Meyer and a nephew of Ella's, the Rev. Dennis Cahill, of Holy Family Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Rockwell.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Parish Center, with a scripture service at 7 p.m., followed by a rosary.

Those honored to be her pallbearers are her grandchildren, Michael Nash, Steve Sturges, Dennis Sturges, Ron Cahill, Scott Cahill, Jeff Cahill, and Terry Cahill.

Ella was born on May 28, 1899, the daughter of John and Mary Ann (Donahue) Beecher on a farm near Doughterty. Ella attended school in the Dougherty area and in 1918 graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Des Moines. She then returned to the Dougherty area to teach school for a few years.

On Feb. 7, 1923, Ella was united in marriage to John Cahill in Dougherty. The couple farmed in the Dougherty and Cartersville area until 1930 when they moved to Rockwell where they had resided ever since.

Those thankful for having shared Ella's life include four daughters, Mary and her husband, John Sturges, of Rockwell; Helen and her husband, Leo Nash, of Naples, Fla.; Tina and her husband, Paul Sturges, of Waverly; Gi Gi Cahill, of Milwaukee, Wis.; three sons, Jerry and his wife, Andra Cahill, of Mechanicsburg, Ohio; Edward and his wife, Patricia Cahill, of Waterloo; and Michael and his wife, Shirley Cahill, of Albuquerque, N.M.; 28 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Ella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John in 1981; two daughters, Patricia and Jean Marie; two sons, Martin and Patrick; three sisters; and four brothers.

Fullerton Funeral Home, 120 S. Third, Rockwell, is in charge of arrangements.
