Mason City, Cerro Gordo County, IowaIrene T. Ingebretson, formerly of Thornton, IA, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Samaritan Bethany Home, Rochester, MN.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday June 2, 2014 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1001 9th Ave S., Clear Lake, with Rev. John Gossman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Interment will be at the Richland Lutheran Cemetery, Thornton, IA.

Irene was born on January 4, 1919 in Emmetsburg, IA, the daughter of Jack and Loretta (Collins) Connors. She graduated from Rodman High School, Rodman, IA and received a degree from Hamilton's Business College. Irene met her future husband, Max, at Hamilton's College. She served in the Navy during WWII, working as a clerk in both Mason City and Iowa City, IA. She was united in marriage to Max Ingebretson in 1941 and to this union were born three sons and one daughter.
Irene worked as a clerk for Woolworth Drug Store, then as a housewife during the younger ages of the children. In 1964, she began working as a secretary for the Meservey/Thornton Schools, retiring in 1994.
Irene is survived by her daughter Maureen (Terry) Johnson, Rochester, MN; three sons Mark (Peggy) Ingebretson, Houston, TX, Mike (Marsha) Ingebretson, Onawa, IA and Melvin Ingebretson, Clear Lake, IA; grandchildren Ryan (Jillian) Johnson, Craig (Kyleen) Johnson, Emily Ingebretson, Matthew Ingebretson, Katie Ingebretson, Molly Ingebretson, Brandon (Eliza) Ingebretson and Megan (Jeff) Wilson; great grandchildren; Alexis, Jace, Camden, Harper, Dylan, Finley and Jaxon; sister-in-law Marybelle Johnson, Inver Groves Hts., MN.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Max (Nov. 22, 1971).
