ARLYN PETERSEN DIES; FUNERAL RITES SATURDAY
Funeral services for Arlyn R. Petersen, 26, who died Thursday afternoon at a Mason City hospital following a lingering illness were held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran church with the Rev. Richard Ellingson and the Rev. Darwin Reiter, officiating. Burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Wilcox Funeral Home had charge. Glenn Erickson and Howard Knutson sang duets, “Abide With Me” and “Still With Thee.”
Mrs. H. L. Erickson was the organist. Flowers were arranged by Mrs. Don Ackerman and Ms. William Hendricks.
Pallbearers were Max Christiansen, Kenneth Coe, Francis Flusek, Jay Grim, Don Ackerman, Miles Camery, Robert Halford and Keith Huntley.
Esther circle served lunch at the Parish hall following the services.
Arlyn Richard Petersen was born Sept. 19, 1934 at Nora Springs, the son of Kenneth and Verna Overgaard Petersen. He was graduated from Ventura high school in 1953 and was in service from May 1. 1956 until May 25, 1958. He was employed by the Clear Lake Telephone co.
He was baptized in the Zion Lutheran church Oct. 20, 1946 and confirmed April 30, 1956. He was a member of the church, the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce, the Clear Lake Rifle and Pistol club, North Central Iowa Retriever’s club and was secretary-treasurer of the Ventura Gun club.
He is survived by his parents, a brother, Don, Ventura and one sister, Mrs. Joseph (Charlotte Jean) Fell, Des, Moines.
Among those from out-of-town who attended the service were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fell, Des Moines, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Olson and Gerald Olson, West Bend.
