CLEAR LAKE | Julie Ann MacDonald, 70, of Clear Lake, Iowa, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.
Celebration of Julie’s life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church, Clear Lake, Iowa, with the Rev. Dr. Jacqueline Thompson officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, and then one hour before the service.

Family suggests memorials to North Iowa Humane Society.

She was born January 30, 1945, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Edwin Christian and Helen Doris (Clawson) Estergard. She graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1963 and then Hamilton Business College in 1964.

Julie married Jack MacDonald June 27, 1964, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, Iowa. They lived in Rochester, Minnesota, for over 33 years where they raised their children. She was a longtime employee of Mestad’s Bridals, Rochester, as a bookkeeper and secretary. They moved back to Clear Lake after they retired in 1998. Both Jack and Julie loved being back in the town where they were raised.

She was an avid reader and read hundreds of books. She spent much of her time volunteering at Opportunity Village and other organizations in Clear Lake. She also enjoyed spending time with her ninety-nine-year-old mother who resides at Apple Valley, her husband, kids, grandkids and her many friends.

She is survived by her husband, Jack MacDonald, Clear Lake, Iowa; three children Kristen (Charlie) Wilfahrt, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Barbara (Jeff) Meyer, Edina, Minnesota, and Joel MacDonald, Cantwell, Alaska; five grandchildren Abigail Wilfahrt, Luke and Natalie Meyer and Fiona and Owen MacDonald; her mother Helen Estergard.

She was preceded in death by her father Edwin Estergard.
