MRS. HARRY D. MASON

Mrs. Harry D. (Irma) Mason, 84, of 509 3rd Ave. N., Clear Lake, Ia. died on Sunday, November 27 at the Seniors Home in Montezuma, Ia., where she had moved about ten days ago to be nearer her family.

On Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. there will be Memorial Rites by Park Chapter #35 of the Order of Eastern Star.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 1 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake, with Reverend Wayne Carlson officiating. Interment in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Irma (Ott) Mason, was born May 5, 1893 at Hampton, Ia., the daughter of Frank and Ada (Esslinger) Ott.

Mrs. Mason was a graduate of Clear Lake High School and furthered her education in music at Highland Park College, Des Moines and later attended Hamilton Business College, Mason City.

Mrs. Mason married Harry D. Mason on April 12, 1925 at Clear lake and they operated the Mason-Overland Garage and later Mason’s Garage until his retirement in 1975. She was the bookkeeper for the D.D.D. Bulk Oil Company until 1975. She was the church organist for the United Methodist Church from 1930 until 1976 and had been the organist for over 1,500 funerals in the past 50 years.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Park Chapter #35, Order of the Eastern Star, was active in the women’s activities of her church and a member of the Library Reading Club.

Mrs. Mason is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Stan Bowen, Montezuma, a sister, Mrs. Lucille Walker, Garden Grove, Ca., three grandchildren, Captain James Bowen, U.S. Air Force, David Bowen, Marion, Ia.; and Mrs. Lance (Kristen) Luftman, Panama Canal Zone.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Merle Ott in 1929.

Pallbearers are, Michael and William Bowen, Kenneth Lincicum, Clifford Vestal, G. E. (Gus) Puke, Arthur Burckhardt, Warren Jacobson, and C. C. (Bud) Dye.
