SAMUEL MCCLEMENT

Samuel McClement died at his residence in Clear Lake at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 1901. He appeared to be in ordinary health until the day before death when he was seized with a stroke of apoplexy, or paralysis of the heart, from which he could not recover.

Deceased was born near Rochester, N.Y., November 20, 1842. He was twice married, the latter time at Rockwell, Iowa, June 26, 1870, to Sarah Sutton, who survives him.

Mr. McClement came to Clear Lake thirteen years ago from Owen’s Grove, where he had a good farm. He served in the Seventeenth Wisconsin infantry three years and nine months, having re-enlisted as a veteran, and his comrades say that he had a fine record as a soldier.

Besides his widow, deceased is survived by six sons. He was a brother of Mrs. J.E. Perry and Mrs. R.A. Holt. Funeral services, in charge of Rev. R.R. Wood, will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock, in the Congregational church.

Transcriber’s Note – Samuel Clement was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section 1 Row 7.
