MELVIN O. MCCLARY

CLEAR LAKE – Melvin O. McClary, of 2201 1st Ave. S., Clear Lake, died Thursday (March 17, 1983) at a Mason City hospital.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake, with Dr. Lyle Leider officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake. The family will be at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Mr. McClary was born in 1902 in Bartlett to Albert and Sarah McClary. He attended rural Nebraska schools and farmed until 1936 when he moved to Glenwood. He had worked on farms in Glenwood and for the telephone company there. He was later employed by the Clear Lake Bakery and the Mason City Clear Lake Electric Railroad, retiring in 1964. He lived with his late brother Lester McClary until 1972 and then went to live with a nephew, Norman McClary, Clear Lake. During World War I he worked for the Martin defense plant in Omaha, Neb.

Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Opal Bacon, Cheyenne, Wyo.; Mrs. Mildred Hartman, Guernsey, Wyo.; and Mrs. Thelma Young, Wayne, Neb.; one brother, Hubert McClary, Winside, Neb., and a nephew, Norman McClary, Clear Lake.
