DELYA M. MCGOWAN

Delya Margaret (Heltman) McGowan, 91, a long time Clear Lake resident, died Thursday, July 19, at a local nursing home where she had been for the past four years.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, at the Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Ubbelohde officiating. Interment was in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Mrs. McGowan was born May 12, 1888 at Lincoln, Neb., to Elmer and Jessie (McKnight) Heltman. The family moved to Wisconsin and later to Clear Lake.

She was married to Charles McGowan in 1905. They farmed north of Clear Lake before moving into town where Mr. McGowan was associated with the McGowan Hardware and later with the Clear Lake Police Department. He died in 1949. Mrs. McGowan babysat with the children of many Clear Lake families until her health caused her to quit.

Surviving her ia a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Neva) Armsbury, a son, Ray McGowan, and a sister, Mrs. Lens McMullen, all of Clear Lake. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was a daughter, Mrs. Ernest (Doris) Garlock, and a brother, Dan Heltman.

Organist was Mrs. A.E. Folkman. Pallbearers were Keith Raw, Carl Engdahl, Anthony Siesseger, James Lane, Mick Minette and Richard Minette.
