SAMUEL G. SCOTT, 78, BURIED AT CLEAR LAKE

CLEAR LAKE – Committal services were held at the graveside in Clear Lake cemetery Monday afternoon for Samuel G. Scott, 78, who died at Des Moines May 2 after an illness of 5 days. The Rev. C. W. Hicks, pastor of the Church of Christ, conducted the rites. Radio music was played. Ward’s funeral home was in charge.

Mr. Scott is survived by a son, Oliver, USO entertainer who came from Burma, India, for the service, and a step-son, LeRoy Prather, Des Moines, who with Mrs. Prather, was also present. Local relatives include a brother-in-law, W. N. Hill; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Cora Hill; a nephew, W. R. Hill, and a niece, Mrs. Burdette Line. A sister, Mrs. Mina Eaton, Siren, Wis., was unable to come. Mrs. Scott died July 28, 1944, and was buried here.

Mrs. Scott was born and reared at Clear Lake, leaving in 1896. He was an employe of the Clear Lake Mirror while residing here but had engaged in the insurance business in Des Moines. He was a member of the Des Moines Consistory, Masonic lodge, Za Ga Zig Shrine and of St. John’s Lutheran church.

Transcriber’s Note – Samuel G. Scott was born August 5, 1866, died May 2, 1945 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section 2 Row 12.
