JACOB HANSCHU DIES SUDDENLY AT CLEAR LAKE HOME
SERVICES HELD SUNDAY FOR CLEAR LAKE FARMER; BORN IN RUSSIA

Jacob Hanschu, after a week’s illness, died last Friday morning at 4:15 o’clock. The funeral service was held here at the Zion Lutheran church Sunday afternoon at 2:30, services being conducted by the Rev. O.L.N. Wigdahl of Trinity Lutheran church of Mason City. Burial was made in the Clear Lake cemetery.

Mr. Hanschu was born April 3, 1870 in Melburg, Volga district, German settlement, Russia. He was married and lived in Russia until 1906 when he and his wife emigrated to the United States, locating in Kansas.

They lived in Kansas until 1910 when they moved to a farm near Clear Lake. In 1927 they moved into Clear Lake, locating on Benton street, where they have since lived.

Mr. Hanschu was taken suddenly ill with peritonitis Friday, April 22 and lived only a week. He had always been in good health and when taken ill firmly believed that in a few days he would be back to normal again.

Mr. Hanschu leaves a wife, one son, Jacob, Jr., of Mason City, and a daughter, Mrs. John Ashland of Clear Lake. There are also nine grandchildren.

The pallbearers were William Leiterman, William Sneesby, Henry Reich, George Branner, Peter Jorgensen, Claus Hansen.
