JANE LEWIS

CLEAR LAKE – Jane Lewis, 64, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday (Jan. 14, 1992) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 120 First St. N.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Robert A. Towner officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 5 p.m. today at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St.

Jane Lewis was born Oct. 30, 1927, at Central City, Neb., a daughter of Merrill W. and Minnie (Gleason) Surface. She married L.K. "Butch" Lewis on Jue 8, 1950, at Hastings, Neb.

Jane graduated from Central City High School, Central City, Neb., in 1945, and attended Hastings College for two years. She and her husband moved to Clear Lake in 1960. While living in Clear Lake, she worked for Boyle and Schuler Law Firm, was secretary to the superintendent at Clear Lake Community Schools, Ris-Van Realty, and Northern Trails Area Education Association.

She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Mason City, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Clear Lake, and Questers Club Whittakers Pier Chapter of Clear Lake.

Survivors include her husband, L.K. "Butch" Lewis of Clear Lake; a daughter, Patty Lewis, Mason City; a son, Tom Lewis and his wife, Carol, Clear Lake; her mother, Minnie Surface, Clear Lake; and two grandchildren, Abby and Jeffrey Lewis, both of Clear Lake.

She was preceded in death by her father, Merrill Surface on Sept. 24, 1991
