HAROLD L. ‘BUD’ MARLOWE

ROCKWELL — Harold L. “Bud” Marlowe, 83, of 22203 182nd St., Rockwell, died early Friday morning (October 15, 2004) at the Rockwell Community Nursing Home.

A private visitation and graveside service has been requested by the family with the Rev. Bill Poland officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Rockwell Gallagher American Legion Post No. 208. Interment will take place in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Those wishing to extend memorials may direct them to the Harold “Bud” Marlowe Memorial Fund. Expressions of sympathy to the family may be sent in the care of Angelina Marlowe, 22203 182nd St., Rockwell, IA 50469.

Harold Louis Marlowe was born August 24, 1921, in rural Clear Lake, to Frank and Myrtle (Austin) Marlow. He was the middle child of three children born to his parents.

“Bud,” as he was fondly known by his family and friends, was inducted into the United States Army on September 2, 1942, and served his country during World War II, achieving the rank of staff sergeant. After honorably and faithfully serving his country for four years, Bud was formally discharged from his military duties on February 3, 1946.

On July 22, 1943, Bud was united in marriage to Angelina “Angie” Rastovac at the Federated Church in Johnston. Bud was a farmer and spent most of his life in the Rockwell and Clear Lake area. The couple became the parents of a son, Jeffrey and daughter, Vicki.

Some of Bud’s favorite leisure activities and interests included woodworking, especially with oak, fishing and treasuring time with his family. He was a member of the Rockwell Gallagher American Legion Post No. 208.

Bud’s memory will be dearly cherished by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Angie Marlowe of Rockwell; his daughter, Vicki Wagner and her husband, Ronald, of Bethany, Mo.; his sister, Lottie Stinger of Gaylord, Mich., and his two grandchildren, Adam Wagner of Ames and Cara Wagner of Minneapolis, Minn.

Bud is preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Marlowe; his parents, Frank and Myrtle Marlow; and his brother, Al Marlowe.
