AGED RESIDENT DIES OF ILLNESS
RITES FOR C. HANSEN NOT YET ARRANGED

CLEAR LAKE – Claus Hansen, 84, died at his home, 403 North Oak street Tuesday evening about 9:30 o’clock. He had been in failing health for some time and critically ill several days.

Mr. Hansen was born at Laaland, Denmark, Feb. 6, 1859, and was married there March 7, 1884, to Miss Helvine Charlotte Hansen, who died last July 15. Within a few months the young couple set sail for America, locating in Clear Lake where they continued to reside.

For several years Mr. Hansen was herdsman at the Lindon ranch, feeding and marketing the cattle. Later he was employed on road and bridge work for Cerro Gordo county at a Mason City cement plant. For several years he had been rather inactive, working only in his garden.

Mr. Hansen is survived by six children, Mrs. A.E. Smith, Mrs. Ray Meyers, and Clarence A. Hansen, Mason City; Herman Hansen, Atlantic, and Mrs. Laura Foster and Mrs. Jakob Jakobsen, Clear Lake. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Dora Hansen, 205 South Oak street, 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Nels Johnson, Rudd, died Jan. 20, 1939, and another in infancy.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete but the rites will probably be held Friday at the Zion Lutheran church. The body is at Williams funeral home.
