SERVICES FOR PROMINENT LAKE BANKER ARE PLANNED
GEORGE A. ETZEL, 68, DIES AT ST. LOUIS HOSPITAL ENROUTE TO HOME

CLEAR LAKE, May 1 – George A. Etzel, 68, prominent retired Clear Lake banker and businessman, died at the Christian hospital at St. Louis Saturday noon after a short illness. He was taken ill while enroute from Miami, Fla., where he and Mrs. Etzel had spent the winter.

Death was caused by a heart attack and complications. He gave up active work as vice president of the Cerro Gordo State bank several years ago because of poor health.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the residence, 514 Jefferson street. Survivors of his death are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. H. H. Hushaw, East Main street; Mrs. Roger Grimm, Mason City, and one son, David Etzel, Mason City.

His only surviving sister, Mrs. C. H. Burton of Twin Falls, Idaho, was expected to arrive Monday to attend the funeral.

Mr. Etzel was outstanding in the growth of Clear Lake, having operated a drug store here a number of years with his brother, the late John Etzel, and also was instrumental in the organization of the Clear Lake Electric Light and Power company here.
