MASON CITY – Ruth D. Bailey, 77, of 224 12th Street Southeast, Mason City, died Sunday, December 04, 2005, at her home in Mason City.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 7, 2005, at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 1405 South Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City, with the Rev. Keith L. Scott officiating. Inurnment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8 P.M. Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third Street Northeast, Mason City. According to her wishes her body will be cremated following the visitation.

Ruth Darlene Bailey was born on February 1, 1928 in Mason City, daughter of Arthur and Bertha (Wilson) Barlow. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1946. Ruth was united in marriage to Douglas Bailey on October 16, 1947 at the Grace United Methodist Church, Mason City. She worked at A.C. Neilsen, Mason City, for 17 years as a supervisor.

Ruth was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church for 51 years, where she participated in the Women of Wesley United Methodist Church circles, and was publicity chairman for many years. She also was state president of Cooties of V.F.W. in 1983, 1984, 1990, and 1991.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Doug Bailey, Mason City; five children, Kathy (Derwood) Foster, Waukee; Kris (Dave) Wittenberg, Rochester, MN; Steve (Kim) Bailey, Clive; Gary (Kim) Bailey, West Des Moines; and Mike Bailey, Mason City; ten grandchildren, Jennifer (Rod) Burnan, Jaime Foster, Lisa (Brett) Porthan, David (Mandy) Wittenberg, Amy (Erik) Porthan, Shawna (David) Preston, Alyssa Bailey, Josh Bailey, Nick Bailey, and Jen Jerousek; eight great-grandchildren, Clint, Abigail, Adam, Lauren, Jack, Parker, Chase, and Trey; two sisters, Sharon Taylor, Mason City; and Betty Bernhardt, Mason City; two brothers, Richard Barlow, Ohio; and Edward Barlow, California; and two sisters-in-law, Carol Barlow, Mason City; and Joan Barlow, Mason City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Kenny, Vernon, Jerry, and Jack, and sister, Mary.
