LYLE THOMAS HILL
Lyle Thomas Hill, 704 S. 8th St., 76, died Wednesday, October 12, at a Mason City Hospital where he had been for the past three weeks.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 15, at the Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home, Clear Lake with Rev. Wayne Carlson of the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake officiating.
Interment was in the Clear Lake Cemetery, with Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home in charge.
Lyle Thomas Hill was born November 10, 1900 on a farm north of Clear Lake, the son of Thomas and Cora (Thomas) Hill.
He was educated in the rural school and a graduate of Clear Lake High School in 1919.
Because of the illness of his father he then farmed with his parents.
Hill was married to Marjorie Kutzner on March 23, 1929 at Waterloo, Ia., and then farmed south of Clear Lake. In 1947 Hill moved to Cottage Grove, Oregon where he operated his own construction company. Because of poor health he had spent several winters in the southwest and in 1969 moved to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. During these years the Hills traveled during their retirement, returning to Clear Lake in May of 1977.
Hill is survived by his wife, Marjorie, one daughter, Mrs. Dean (Joanne) Snyder, Clear Lake, two sons, Jack, Springfield, Missouri and Son Hill, Clear Lake, two brothers, Virgil, Oakland, Ca., and Dale Hill, Thompson, Ia., and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Tom Treloar was the organist and Mr. and Mrs. Don Kacer provided vocal music.
Pallbearers were Steve and Lyle Hill, George, Dale, Don and David Snyder.
