DEATH OF T. A. BEAVER
Titus Anson Beaver was born in Cobleskill, N.Y., May 12, 1839 and died June 5, 1914, at Clear Lake, Iowa.
Mr. Beaver lived at Cobleskill until 1861, when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served one year, his regiment was then discharged. He worked one year in the quarter master’s department and then returned home and was married May 16, 1863, to Regina M. Andrews. Soon after their marriage they came West, living in Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois. In 1871 they came to Clear Lake, and have resided here since that time.
Mr. Beaver was a carpenter contractor for 20 years. Had charge of the post office from 1880 to 1882. He had to give up this work on account of poor health. He had served on the city council, school board and filled other public positions. For 16 years he has been a fruit farmer, retiring from this work three years ago. He was of a quiet retiring nature, honorable in all dealings, and had won the confidence of all who knew him. Two daughters blessed this union, Ida, now Mrs. D. H. Culver and Maud born in 1872, who lived for only 10 years. The one daughter and a devoted wife are left to mourn his loss.
The funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon, June 7. Rev. F. B. Stafford, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating.
