Funeral set for Mrs. L. Whitman, 62

Mrs. Leonard (Anna Belle) Whitman, 62, died suddenly late Saturday afternoon at a Mason City hospital. She had lived in Mason City 44 years and made her home at 1436 Monroe NW.

Mrs. Whitman was born May 17, 1899, at Prague, Bohemia, daughter of Jacob and Margaret (Vrzak) Pletka. She came to the United States at the age of seven. She was married to Leonard Whitman Aug. 10, 1936, in Cedar Rapids.

Surviving are her husband, a sister, Mrs. Elmer T. Ellison, Mason City, and a brother, John Pletka, Long Beach, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the McAuley-Scanlan-Peterson Chapel. The Rev. Alfred R. Malone, rector of St. John's Episcopal Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
