WAYNE BECKETT SERVICES HELD

CLEAR LAKE – Funeral services for Wayne W. Beckett, 40, who died at a Mason City hospital Sunday morning following a week’s illness, were held at ward’s funeral home, Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Dr. Edward Day, pastor of the Congregational church, conducting the rites. Burial was in the Clear Lake cemetery.

Mrs. H. C. Hines played a number of hymns before and after the services.

Mrs. Frances Bellamy had charge of the flowers.

Pallbearers were Keith Raw, Donald E. Garlock, Bertram E. Morse, Thorkel E. Sondrol, Jr., Karl F. Hass and Harold Thompson, members of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Stafford Post American Legion.

Paul Kutzner, Alvin H. Nelson, Lawrence Brown, Jr., Charles Whitney composed the color guard.

The firing squad included Wayne Wood, Tom Wood, Kenneth Knutson and Benny Smith. Bynum Jacobson had charge of the detail of the squad. Buglers were Ronald Petersen and Allan Kelly.

Relatives from away who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Beckett, Goodnight, Tex., and Miles Beckett and Mrs. Mildred Hamer, cousins from Spencer.

Mr. Beckett is survived by his mother, Mrs. C. P. Beckett, 604 N. 3rd street, and a brother, Harold Beckett, Goodnight, Tex.

Transcriber’s Note – Wayne W. Beckett was born June 7, 1907, died February 29, 1948 and was buried in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Section E Row 10.
