EMIL J. BROERS

CLEAR LAKE – Emil J. Broers, 82, of 401 S. Ninth St., Clear Lake, died Tuesday (Feb. 9, 1988) at a Mason City hospital.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St. The Rev. John Van Den Berg, pastor of the Open Bible Church of Clear Lake, will officiate. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Mr. Broers was born April 5, 1905, in rural Mason City to Bardelt and Emelie (Neiss) Broers. He attended rural Bath Township schools and attended Iowa State University, Ames. He then farmed south of Mason City.

On Dec. 29, 1927, he was married to Cecil Mae Walls at Mason City. They farmed until February 1970 when they moved to Clear Lake.

Visitation will be after 2:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Emil J. Broers Memorial Fund.

Survivors include his wife, Cecil Mae, Clear Lake; two sons, Billy of Mason City, and Emil Jr., Ventura; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Smith, Mason City; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
