Joseph V. McCarthy, 46, former farm editor of the Mason City Globe-Gazette, has died at Fargo, N. D. Father Robert Benson officiated at memorial services in St. Mary's Cathedral. Mr. McCarthy was a veteran radioman and radio and television news commentator before coming to Mason City in 1955. He is survived by his wife, the daughter of Frances Sutherland of Hampton.
