Lucinda Mayo rites Tuesday

Lucinda Mayo, 68, retired employe (sic) of St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital, died Saturday evening at her home, 624 9th NE. She had lived in Mason City many years.

Mrs. Mayo was born May 15, 1896, at Shell Lake, Wis., daughter of Hiram and Temperance (Payson) Pickett. When she was 10 she moved with her family to Mazeppa, Minn., where she attended school.

In 1917, she was married to Mariano L. Mayo at Red Wing, Minn. Shortly after that she moved to Mason City to make her home.

She began her employment at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in 1926 and continued there until her retirement in 1961. She was a member of Wesley Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Arleigh (Dolores) Ward, Mason City; four sons, Lloyd M. Mayo, Mason City; Delbert R. Mayo, San Francisco, Calif.; Charles W. Mayo, Melrose Park, Ill.; and Louis C. Mayo, Chicago, Ill; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchidren.

Two brothers, Charles Pickett, Moclipps, Wash., and Delbert H. Willis, Mason City, also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, four brothers and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be a 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Wesley Methodist Church. The Rev. L. J. DeGarmo will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers selected are Kenneth Chodur, David Rasmus, James Kavars, Gus Kavars, John Bombella and Reuben Moen. Mrs. Bernard P. Peterson will be soloist; Mrs. John H. Tidball, organist. Friends may call at the Major-Erickson Funeral Home until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
