Geerd Eden, Carpenter and Mechanic, Dies

Geerd Eden, 48, mechanic and carpenter, died Tuesday at the Veteran's Hospital in Iowa City. He had made his home in the county for 17 years, at 322 3rd S.W.

Mr. Eden was born April 14, 1907, at Titonka, the son of Enno and Lina Eden, now of Clear Lake. He was a veteran of World War II in the European, African and Middle Eastern theaters. He received the Purple Heart and three battle stars.

Besides his parents, he is survived by eight children, Marvin, Arlene, Vernon, Betty, Shirley, Larry, Carroll and Barbara; a brother Henry Eden, Mason City, and four sisters, Mrs. S. G. (Caroline) Buchholtz, Forest City; Mrs. Virgil (Vera) Osnes, Covina, Calif.; Mrs. Leonard (Clara) Nelson, Mason City; and Mrs. Wayne (Lorraine) Buseman, Klemme.

Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Patterson-James Funeral Home but are not yet complete.

Geerd Eden Rites Set for Friday

Funeral services for Geerd Eden, 45, 322 3rd S. W., will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Patterson-James Chapel. The Rev. Vernon JaBerg, pastor of the Evangelical Reformed Church at Klemme, will officiate. Military rites will be held at the graveside in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Eden died Tuesday at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.
