W. W. Carey, 94, dies at IOOF Home

William W. (Bill) Carey, 94, former guard at the Anamosa Men's Reformatory, Anamosa, died Sunday at the IOOF Home. He had lived at the home since Dec. 13, 1963, when he moved here with his wife from Greenwood, Ark.

Mr. Carey was born Oct. 18, 1879, in Wayne County, Iowa, son of Patrick and Susan (Ayrsman) Carey.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Alice Carey, Mason City; two daughters, Hazel Ely, Oregon, Ohio, and Mrs. Kenneth Krumenaver, Evansville, Ind. He was preceded in death by a son.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the IOOF Chapel. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Mason City. The Major-Erickson Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
