J. PURVIANCE RITES TO BE SATURDAY

CLEAR LAKE – Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wilcox Funeral Home for John Purviance, 80, who died suddenly Thursday morning in his home, 1105 S. 8th St.

The Rev. Arthur Krebs, pastor of the Congregational Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Mrs. Louis Treloar will be the soloist and Mrs. Harry Mason the organist.

Pallbearers selected are Frank Mullan, Robert Buck, Fred Banks, Kenneth Coe, Vincent McGuire and Ron Stricker.

John Woodard Purviance was born Oct. 8, 1887, at Dysart, the son of William and Emma (Smith) Purviance. He was married to Neva Homes Nov. 19, 1905, at Marcus. They moved to a farm north of Clear Lake where they lived many years before moving to the present home in town.

Mr. Purviance is survived by his wife, Neva; four sons, John Jr., Rockford, Ill.; Floyd, Prescott, Ariz.; Jesse, Clear Lake; Clyde, Rockford; and five daughters, Mrs. Arlo (Clara) Ball, Prescott, Ariz.; Mrs. Cecil (Opal) Coffin, Augusta, Kan.; Mrs. Brad (Lola) Cook, Hudson, Wis.; Mrs. Warren (Irene) Millard, Floyd; and Mrs. Everett (Allene) Hollatz, Clear Lake.

Also surviving him are 22 grandchildren, 41, great-grandchildren and four sisters.

He was preceded in death by a son and two grandsons.
